Buffy the Vampire Slayer TV series was a hugely popular series that ran from March 1997 through to May 2003. It starred Sarah Michelle Gellar who played Buffy, a vampire slayer that was trained to kill vampires. There were many vampire slayers before her but they were all killed by vampires. Buffy however uses her skills and unconventional methods to keep herself alive and make sure she dispels as many vampires that come into her life.
The TV episodes was so popular it regularly had audiences of around 5 million for each episode. It was widely acclaimed for its storylines and acting performances. In fact it won 3 Emmy awards and was also nominated for the Golden Globe awards too.
The popularity also led to many Buffy related products such as comics, novels and video games. It also had a spin off show called Angel which wasn’t as popular as Buffy but was still enjoyed by many Buffy fans.
Sarah Michelle Gellar has gone on to star in lots of movies including Scream 2, Scooby-Doo, The Grudge, The Return, I Know What You Did Last Summer and more recently is starring in a popular TV series names Ringer.
